The president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Minister Luiz Fux, said this Wednesday (4) that the Judiciary must be strong and independent to maintain social peace in the country. The statements were made at the opening of today’s session.
In his speech, Fux told his colleagues the meeting he had yesterday (3) with the President of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco, and the Minister of Defense, Paulo Sérgio Nogueira.
”We addressed the need for a strong, independent and responsible Judiciary to maintain social peace and the fundamental rights of Brazilians. In short: the meeting was very fruitful”, he said.
In the same session, Minister Edson Fachin, who is also president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), spoke and defended respect for institutions.
“Respect between institutions – and there is no institution above or below – and harmony between powers depend not only on open dialogue, but also on a firm position,” he said.
