The new investigation stems from a complaint stating that in 2018 the former congresswoman allegedly delivered an amount close to 5,000 million pesos to the candidate and current representative to the Chamber, Emeterio José Montes De Castro. Said millionaire sum of money would have been transferred by the businessman Julio Gerlein.
Former congresswoman Aida Merlano is currently being held in the El Buen Pastor Women’s prison in Bogotá, where she is serving the two sentences against her.
