The head of the National Commission for the Prevention and Eradication of Violence against Women (Conavim), Sayda Yadira Blanco Morfín, reported that during this six-year term, the resources allocated to specialized care for these people grew by 27 percent, since in 2018 the investment concentrated in the Support Program for Women’s Agencies in the Federative Entities was 263 million pesos and this year it totaled 334 million.
In the monthly report of the Interinstitutional Group of the National Strategy for Comprehensive Protection of Women, Girls, Adolescents and Older Adults, it was indicated that at the second level (specialized health, psychological and legal services for attention and follow-up of specific cases), there were 43 justice centers for women in 27 entities in 2018, and currently there are 69 in the 32 states of the country.
He said that in the third level of care, where the main units are the shelters, in 2018 only 42 of these sites were supported, and this year 75 distributed across the 32 states, with an investment of more than 485.7 million pesos, 39 percent more than six years ago.
The president of the National Institute for Women, Nadine Gasman, said that in order to prevent violence against this population, the focus must continue to be on attacking the causes of this scourge and promoting equality.
In the Juárez Hall of the Ministry of the Interior, the Undersecretary of Territorial and Agrarian Planning of the Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development, Edna Elena Vega Rangel, highlighted that during this administration, 461,330 direct housing grants were granted, of which 64 percent were for women; through the Housing Fund of the Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers, 274,022 loans were granted, 56 percent of them to women, and the Federal Mortgage Society facilitated 310,689 financings, 65 percent for the female population.
The general director of the National Workers’ Housing Fund (Infonavit), Carlos Martínez Velázquez, explained that the institute modified its rules so that women can obtain a housing loan, with the reduction of requirements such as the contribution period, as well as the extension of years to pay the financing and the increase of the age to obtain it. He added that from 2018 to 2024, the granting of credit to women grew seven percentage points, going from 34 to 41 percent of total Infonavit loans.
