Former director of Edesur says despite their close relationship, he never negotiated with the brother of former president Danilo Medina
Most of the businesses that Alexis Medina Sánchez did with the State were taken by suppliers who understood that because of his familiarity with the President of the Republic it was easier for him to collect them, declared the former manager of Edesur, José Idelfondo Correa, defending himself against the accusations that the Public Prosecutor’s Office does in the Antipulpo case.
He said that once a friend called Alexis to offer him hospital equipment, “and I told him not to get involved in that, that he better tell the friend that if he had no way to do it, he (Alexis) would help him, because Since you are the brother of the President (Danilo Medina) they are going to say that you took it away from him,” he stressed.
He considered that the fact of having a relationship with Alexis does not mean that he belongs to a criminal structure.

“But I also don’t think that Alexis Medina and the other defendants are a criminal structure…” Correa said before the judge.
He said that his primary relationship with Alexis dates from the year 2021 when he separated from his wife and he took him to live together, in an apartment on the Malecón, since he was also separated, “but I never did business with him.”
He said that he is a man in solidarity with everyone, and indicated that he also welcomed Francisco Domínguez Brito into his apartment when he was appointed as Prosecutor of the National District and came to reside here.
Correa said he was a prosperous businessman and former official of the governments of the Dominican Liberation (PLD) and Dominican Revolutionary (PRD) parties “which is the same PRM”; that he does not need to provide his name for an apartment that has been his for 20 years, for US $ 200,000 as attributed by the MP in accusation
