The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced this Wednesday (31), via social media, that the 2026 Supercopa Rei will take place on February 1st, in Brasília.
The entity confirmed the city again as the stage for the first major decision of the 2026 season. The dispute takes place in a single game at the BRB Mané Garrincha Arena, in the center of the federal capital.
The match will be between Flamengo, champion of the 2025 Brazilian Championship, and Corinthians, champion of the Copa do Brasil this year. The match opens the 2026 football season. According to the CBF, the stadium will be divided 50% for each fan.
Initially, the confrontation was scheduled for January 24th.
Generally, the Supercopa Rei is played in neutral stadiums in an attempt to ensure impartiality.
Last champions
Rubro-Negro is the current champion of the competition. At the beginning of 2025, the team led by Filipe Luís beat Botafogo 3-1.
The previous champions were São Paulo, in 2024; Palmeiras, 2023; and Atlético Mineiro (2022). Flamengo was still champion in 2020 and 2021.
King Super Cup
Not played between 1992 and 2019, the Brazilian Super Cup was reactivated by the CBF in 2020.
In 2024, the CBF renamed the competition Supercopa Rei in honor of Pelé, the King of Football, who passed away in December 2022.
The idea is that the trophy represents the crown of national football, being competed for by the two clubs that dominated the football scene in the previous year..
