Facing the Super Bowl LXwhich will be held this February 8 at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE)called on Mexicans who will attend the event to do so responsibly, respect local laws and be clear about their rights to consular assistance.
The warnings come at a time of strong debate and tension in the United States due to an intensification of security operations. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that have generated a climate of migratory pressure, protests and confrontations in cities like Minneapolis.
In recent weeks, Minneapolis has been the scene of confrontations between federal agents and civilians, in which at least Two people have been shot dead by federal agents during immigration activities.which has led to massive protests and intense public scrutiny over the practices of ICE and other immigration agencies.
They ask to travel in an informed and responsible manner
The message from the SRE and the consular representations of Mexico seeks that people who will travel to the Super Bowl not only plan logistics and tickets, but also:
-Act with respect at all times and avoid provocations.
-Maintain constant communication with family and friends about your location.
-Follow the instructions of security personnel inside and outside the stadium.
-Do not drive if you have consumed alcohol or substances.
-Know the local laws of the state of California and the rules of the event.
The authorities point out that any administrative offense or crime in the United States can lead to arrests, legal proceedings, and possible immigration implications if the person does not have legal status, but even residents or visitors can face consequences for serious infractions.
ICE under the magnifying glass of civil organizations
Various human rights organizations have reported that agents of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) have intensified raids and operations in different cities, which, they point out, has generated fear, stress and impacts on the daily lives of migrant communities, including Mexican people.

In case of arrest, accident, loss of documents or being a victim of a crime, Mexican people have the right to consular assistance. The authorities remember that it is essential to ask the authority to notify the Mexican Consulate and that they can exercise this right by expressing it directly in English with the phrase:
- “I am a Mexican citizen and I want to talk to my consulate.”
Consular representations can provide support if the person:

-Is a victim of abuse or crime.
