Suntracs hopes that Capac will make serious proposals today in terms of salary so that they can close this conflict

The Single Union of Construction and Similar Workers (Suntracs), after having carried out its warning strike this Friday morning for not yet reaching an agreement with the Panamanian Chamber of Construction (Capac) on salary adjustment, Saúl Méndez, general secretary of said union, described this action as a “resounding success”.

He stressed that “the attitude of the businessmen has taken us to the moment in which we are. Entrepreneurs in an even irrational way have come to the table with zero raise.”

“This is the message that we wanted to send to the Capac businessmen, while they raise confrontation and do not make proposals at the table, trying to get into the internal affairs of Suntracs, we hope that today they will make serious proposals in terms of salary. so that we can close this conflict,” Méndez stressed.

The union leaders revealed that they aspire to negotiate the clauses that are missing from the agreement, “increases or adjustments to the salary that help to face the high cost of living, medicines, food, electricity and that can only be shoveled with salary, and that is what we are demanding from employers”.

The 274 projects with more than 20,000 organized Suntracs workers participated in this Friday’s warning strike.
