In August, the tax revenues of the Central governmentnet of refunds, reached S/ 12,506 million, an amount that is higher than the average of the previous seven months, without considering the regularization of the 2021 income tax paid during this period, reported the Sunat.
The entity pointed out that, in the eighth month of 2021, the collection registered extraordinary payments for almost S / 2,600 million, which explains the statistical effect against August of this year, since when comparing them, a real decrease of 17.5% is appreciated. .

With the result of August, the accumulated collection in the first eight months of the year registers a growth of 11.2%.
The increase of 18.2% in the collection of the Third Category Income Tax and 8.7% in the case of the IGV stand out, indicated the Sunat.
Collection factors
Sunat He specified that imports in dollars in August increased by around 30% and compensated for the lower exchange rate, which decreased by around 5%. These results made it possible to obtain a favorable collection of customs taxes, in particular the VAT on imports.
There were also higher payments on account of the Third Category Income Tax (18.2%), highlighting the mining and hydrocarbon sectors, despite the adjustment of some contributions with a negative effect on monthly income. This result continued to reflect mainly the application of coefficients higher than those of last year.
“It should be noted that this good result occurs despite the fact that, as of August, some important companies have already applied the reduction of their monthly payment coefficients in use of the provisions of the current regulations and with the presentation of their balance sheets to the first semester. This modification will influence the collection in the remainder of the year”, limited the collecting entity.
In addition, he highlighted the favorable performance that the economic activity would have registered during the month of July, whose tax obligations are declared and paid mainly in August, following the results of positive rates observed so far in both GDP and domestic demand.
In August, S/ 4,220 million were collected for this tax, a figure that represents a growth of 1.7% compared to the same period in 2021, and an additional S/ 392 million in collection compared to what was obtained in August 2021.
This result mainly reflects the higher payments for Third Category Income Tax (General Regime and RMT), which grew 18.2%, as well as the Rest of income (1.9%), First Category (1.9%), Fifth (0.1%) and RER (3.3%); attenuated by lower payments in Second (-59.2%), Fourth (-3.3%), Non-residents (-2%) and Regularization (-58.3%).
While the collection of the General Sales Tax (IGV) reached S/ 8,250 million, an increase of 8.7% compared to what was registered in August 2021 and an additional S/ 1,246 million of collection.
