The president offered his statements during the anniversary of the XXX Summit of the Americas.
The next edition of this conclave will be held in the country at the end of 2025. Abinader hoped that, in that meeting, the presidents and prime ministers of the region forge a contemporary vision that responds to the challenges of the new times.
“In our interconnected world, we face numerous challenges that go beyond political borders and that can only be successfully assumed through collaboration between nations. For this reason, the strengthening of international and regional mechanisms must be a central objective of the region that avidly seeks lasting security and sustainable development,” said the president.
Present at the meeting was former president from the United States Bill Clintonunder whose mandate the first summit was held in 1994, as well as the secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, and representatives of international organizations, as well as prominent Latin American and United States figures. Also with them was the founder of the Puntacana Group, Frank Rainieri.

Abinader affirmed that the country will work intensely together with governments and the main regional organizations to guarantee the success of the X Summit of the Americaswhich will take place in the Dominican Republic at the end of 2025.
At the event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and moderated by chancellor Roberto Álvarez, was present on former president from the United States, Bill Clintonwhich considered that it continues to be necessary to define “what kind of world we want to live in and what is the best way to achieve it.”

On his side, the chancellor Álvarez stated that given the projection of the democratic values and commitment to transparency and the fight against corruption that the country has led, it meets the conditions to celebrate a successful tenth Summit of the Americas.
“As the 30th approaches anniversary of the Summits of the Americas, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs We considered it appropriate to hold an event that would serve, in addition to a celebration of this milestone, to carry out a prospective analysis of the first nine summits with the purpose of nourishing the agenda of the Summit of Punta Cana 2025“he added.
The event held in Punta Cana served to develop two dialogue sessions headed by the former Minister of Economy, Development and Reconstruction of Chile, Carlos Ominami; and the former Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, Jorge Castañeda. These were in charge of presenting a general proposal that invited the work of the next Summit to focus on building consensus on citizen, food, water and health security. The Summit of the Americas is the most important regional conclave for the countries of the Western Hemisphere, to be held under the collaboration of the Organization of American States (OAS). In 2022, the DR was chosen to be the next venue for the meeting.
