This Monday, the torch of the ANCAP refinery in La Teja woke up with a pink banner for the “Yes”.
After the episode, the president of ANCAP, Alejandro Stipanicic; the vice president, Diego Durand; and the directors Richard Charamelo (National Party) and José Luis Alonso (Open Council) expressed in their respective Twitter accounts that the placement of the banner on top of the torch is “inadmissible and irresponsible.”
“With our support, the General Management has ordered an administrative investigation to determine the degree of responsibility of those involved who, with this action, violate not only the Law, but also operational and safety provisions,” indicated the authorities of the energy entity.

Shortly after, ANCAP issued a statement through which it expresses its repudiation of “the placement of an apparently flammable material in one of the refinery’s torches and initiated an investigation to determine responsibilities.”
“This morning a fabric was detected on the railing of one of the torch platforms. Access to it was made without authorization to climb the torch, which is lit. The situation triggered an operation to remove the material and at this time the Industrial Safety, Security Surveillance and Protection areas together with the Fire Department are analyzing the risk involved in removing the element and evaluating the safe conditions to climb onto the platform with the torch lit. The ANCAP Board of Directors and the General Management determined an investigation to determine the responsibilities of the people involved in this event,” ANCAP reported.
Subsequently, the ANCAP Federation (FANCAP) issued a brief statement in which it asserts that “FANCAP did not carry out any action on the La Teja refinery torch on the date of the date.”
In the afternoon, the vice president of ANCAP, Diego Durand, reported that a “summary and preventive suspension” of those responsible for the plant’s industrial operation area had begun, for the time being two officials.
