Following a meeting, the final studies began for the project to recover areas degraded by solid waste in the Nuevo San Vicente de Cieneguillo sector in Piedra Rodada in the Sullana provinceThe execution of the studies and the work will be carried out by the Ministry of the Environment through UE003: GICA.
The meeting, attended by the Mayor of Sullana, Eng. Marlem Mogollón, took place in the “Víctor Borrero Vargas” hall of the municipality of Sullana and introduced the team of professionals from the Program for the Recovery of Areas Degraded by Solid Waste in Priority Zones – JICA2, as well as the technical consulting team from the AMBIDES firm, responsible for the final engineering studies, and the supervision team.

Engineer Juan Sanéz, from the Executive Unit 003 GICA of the Ministry of the Environment, provided detailed information on the project. He indicated that this project aims to recover an area of 28.3 hectares in San Vicente de Santa Rosa de Piedra Rodada, where the municipal dump was in operation for 25 years.
To this end, AMBIDES must submit the final studies within 150 calendar days, which will include proposals for a new use of the land, in order to reduce the negative impacts on the environment and improve the surrounding conditions.
Officials from the Ministry of the Environment highlighted the commitment of Mayor Mogollón’s administration to the closure of the area degraded by solid waste, in accordance with Mayoral Resolution No. 1220-2023/MPS of September 28, 2023, and to compliance with current environmental regulations through the use of the sanitary landfill in the western sector of Sullana.
The meeting was also attended by the general manager of the municipality, Atty. Danilo Calle Castillo, the manager of Environmental Management, Eng. Henry Seminario Borrero, and the head of the Solid Waste Unit, Eng. Karen Ramos Gómez.
