The Deliberative Council of the Superintendence for the Development of the Northeast (Sudene) approved, this Thursday (15), in Recife, the reprogramming of the Constitutional Fund for Financing the Northeast (FNE), with an additional R$ 2 billion in this year’s budget. With this, the availability of resources for Sudene’s area of activity increased to R$ 39.88 billion, with a new distribution by size, sectors, states, priority activities and credit programs. 
Thirty percent of the FNE quota for infrastructure will be allocated to support projects defined as priorities by the states and municipalities in the Sudene area of coverage, with the transfer of funds made possible through public-private partnerships and concessions. This adjustment is exclusive to the infrastructure sector, which receives 30% of the Constitutional Fund’s annual budget.
Priorities
The Deliberative Council meeting also approved the FNE guidelines and priorities for 2025, taking into account recent sectoral policies such as the New Brazilian Industry, the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) and the Ecological Transition Plan. Assessments of the economic and social impacts resulting from the application of FNE resources between 2000 and 2018 will also be considered, with an analysis of the efficiency, effectiveness, efficacy and economic and social return of the Constitutional Fund during this period.
Sudene’s area of operation comprises all states in the Northeast region, in addition to 249 municipalities in the states of Minas Gerais and 31 municipalities in Espírito Santo.
