Conflict between workers continues subway and the company Emova before the claim of the metro delegates for a reduction in working hours, a request that the concessionaire has described as “unfeasible”.
In this way, this Friday, the employees of the subway will carry out a new day of protests that will affect operations in the transport serviceespecially the A line.
The protest will begin with the opening of the turnstiles at the San Pedrito station, between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Then, the operation of the subway on line A, until service closes. In other words, there will be no operations for three hours.
The union indicated in a statement that, beyond the claim for the reduction in working hours, the situation “is aggravated by the lack of personnel in all sectors” and “by the delay in the purchase of new trains without asbestos due to part of the City Government.
During this week, the metro delegates had carried out a protest on line C, their measure of force has been extended for several weeks, since, according to the workers, Emova has not responded to their requests.
For its part, the concessionaire stressed that they remain open to dialogue to avoid the suspension of the transport service, which affects thousands of users. However, in the face of the workers’ requests, she has stated that the working day cannot be reduced.
Meanwhile, the subway workers apologized for the inconvenience caused by their forceful measure, but reiterated that they will maintain their protest until Emova responds.
What are the demands of the workers?
The metro delegates seek to have two rest days a week, that is, reduce the working day from 36 to 30 hours, this, in order to spend less time in the units of the transport network that are contaminated with asbestos.
In addition, they demand that these units be replaced by new trains, since their health is at risk. On the other hand, they denounce that there is a lack of personnel in all sectors, information that the concessionaire denies.
