He DS1 Subsidy is a program that seeks to facilitate access to home ownership for middle-income families who do not yet own a property. This benefit, recently announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (Minvu), will be available in three staggered application stages, each with different requirements and aid amounts depending on the income bracket. With this subsidy, families can obtain financial support to purchase a new or used home, or build on their own land. This year’s call focuses on helping those who have demonstrated the ability to save and need assistance to achieve the goal of owning their own home.
The dates to apply for DS1 Subsidy In this second call of 2024 they begin on November 20. On that first date, the application will be automatic for those who had already registered but were not selected in the previous process. By November 21, those interested will be able to apply online through the official Minvu website, while on November 22 it will be possible to complete the application through a Citizen Attention Form, for those who face difficulties with the previous methods. Applicants must meet a requirement important savings. This amount varies depending on whether the objective is the purchase of a home or construction on one’s own land, and also depends on the family’s income bracket. To purchase a property, a minimum of 30 UF is required for Section 1, 40 UF for Section 2, and 80 UF for Section 3. In the case of building on their own site, applicants for Section 2 must have 30 UF and those of Tranche 3, with 50 UF. This savings must be available in a housing account before October 30 and no withdrawals must be recorded after that date.
The amount of subsidy The DS1 offers varies considerably depending on the region and the value of the intended home. In Tranche 1, state aid ranges from 600 to 750 UF, which is equivalent to aid of between $22,777,200 and $28,471,500. In Tranche 2, the subsidy can be between 250 and 700 UF (from $9,490,500 to $26,573,400), while in Tranche 3, the aid ranges from 250 to 550 UF (from $9,490,500 to $20,879,100 ). This contribution seeks to cover a significant part of the value of the home or the cost of construction.
To access the DS1 Subsidy, applicants must meet certain requirements. It is necessary to be over 18 years old, have a valid identity card—or permanent residence card in the case of foreigners—and have a housing savings account that is at least one year old. In addition, it is essential to credit the minimum savings in this account, without making withdrawals, and to be registered in the Social Registry of Households (RSH), in the percentage that corresponds to the section for which you are applying.
