(EFE).- Striker Luis Suárez arrived in Montevideo this Sunday to be presented as a new Nacional player.
Around 10:30 local time, the plane that took the soccer player and his family from Barcelona to Montevideo landed at the Carrasco International Airport, where thousands of Tricolor fans were waiting for him.
In minutes, Suárez will leave from there for the Gran Parque Central stadium in a van that will be accompanied by a long caravan of fans.
At the Nacional stadium, the soccer player will be presented during a party that will include various musical shows.
Suárez became a new player for Nacional on Wednesday, a day after announcing that both parties had a pre-agreement for the player to return to the team he played for between 2005 and 2006.
The striker posted a message on his Twitter, in which he changed his profile picture to one dressed in the jersey of the team in which he began his professional career.
«Now yes, OFFICIALLY! #SUAREZENNATIONAL! I am proud to wear my shirt again at @Nacional! Thank you all for your support! SEE YOU SOON,” wrote the striker born in the Uruguayan city of Salto (northwest) in 1987.
Likewise, the Tricolor communicated it in a publication on the same social network.
«The illusion of all, the love for colors and the joy of seeing you again with the most beautiful shirt in the world. Happy to have you home! @LuisSuarez9 #ElClubGiante”, says the text that is accompanied by a photo of the historical scorer of the Uruguayan team.
On Tuesday, Suárez announced that he had a pre-agreement with Nacional, a team that offered him a contract for the rest of the season.
«I think it was inevitable to reject this opportunity to have the chance to play for Nacional again. We have a pre-agreement with the club, (for) which details will be finalized in the next few hours and we hope that the agreement that we all want will be reached », he detailed in a video posted on his social networks.
There he also thanked the affection shown by the fans of the Tricolor team who carried out the #SuarezANacional social media campaign, which sought the return of the player to the club.
The striker made his official debut with the Nacional shirt in May 2005 and said goodbye in July 2006 after playing 48 games, scoring 12 official goals and winning the Uruguayan Championship twice. EFE
