Hot promotions

The research also points to growth in the promotions sector in Rio de Janeiro between 2023 and 2024. This year, 414 events have been held so far, an increase of 28.17% compared to the 323 in 2023. The revenue generated grew by significantly, exceeding R$6.42 billion, which represents an increase of 12.27% compared to 2023.

The projection of the Visit Rio covers expenses with accommodation, food, transport and attractions, but does not include other factors, such as job creation and supplier earnings, among other aspects.

For the executive president of Visit RioCarlos Werneck, these numbers reflect Rio’s consolidated position as one of the main destinations for events in Brazil.

For him, the expectation is that the numbers will be even better from the G20 onwards. “These results show the positive impact of the events sector on the local economy, strengthening the city as a business and entertainment hub. The expectation is that the G20 will further boost this visibility [do Rio] and contribute to an even more promising future”, concluded Werneck.
