A group of students from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) protested yesterday during the inauguration of the 34th edition of the International Book Fair (FIL) of said educational body to make visible the demands of the various schools that have carried out work stoppages in recent days. .

Coming from schools such as the higher schools of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Chemical Engineering and Extractive Industries (Esiqie), among others, the young people chanted slogans upon their arrival at the Jaime Torres Bodet Cultural Center and held banners with phrases such as They are more interested in the fair than meeting our demands either Demanding quality education is not vandalism.

Emphasizing that their mobilization was peaceful, they demanded transparency in the use of the IPN budget, attention to cases of gender violence and sufficient space for students, among other demands, and toured various points of the fair, without interrupting the activities carried out. cape.

For its part, the Polytechnic issued a statement in which it reported that prevented a group of young people from some academic units from chaining the access doors to the Víctor Bravo Ahuja National Library of Science and Technology and the Jaime Torres Bodet Cultural Center, located in the Zacatenco Unit. According to the institute, “upon being alerted by surveillance personnel of this attempted blockade, the general secretary of the IPN, Carlos Ruiz Cárdenas, went to the place accompanied by the secretary of Administration, Javier Tapia Santoyo, and other officials.
