Students occupy IPA and other educational centers against the curricular reform

The students from various educational centers resolved a strike on the morning of this Monday 15 against the curricular reform process carried out by the Education Training Council (CFE).

Thus, the mobilizations were carried out at the Artigas Institute of Teachers (IPA), in addition to the Normal Institutes of Montevideo, the Institute for Training in Social Education (IFES), the Regional Teacher Centers (CERP) of the South and the This, and the Teacher Training Institute (IFD) of the Coast, according to what he told The Observer the president of the Education Training Teachers Union (Sidfe), Líber Romero.

The leader added that the teachers “accompany the measures” of the students, “participating in the activities” that the young people “may propose.”

Likewise, the IPA Student Center (Ceipa) issued a statement in which it claims for the building structure of the study center, the “deregulation in the conditions of studies” and educational transformation “regressive” and “without the real participation of those involved”. In his opinion, this process “deepens the processes of privatization and commodification of education with the aim of training employees submissive to the system,” they add in the statement.
