Students must maturely assume the new training process that the country is experiencing

The training process that students are currently experiencing in the country must be assumed with maturity and, in addition, he assured that this new education is an achievement of the Bolivarian Revolution. “You are living a training process that you must assume with maturity, because it is only possible in a Revolution,” said the general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello.

In this sense, Cabello expressed his pride in the presence of students from abroad: “It fills us with pride to see foreigners training in our country,” while contrasting the current situation with the treatment that the student population received during the “Fourth Republic.”

In this regard, the general secretary of the PSUV recalled the moments of intense repression against young people in the past, referring to the celebration of Student Day in 1963, when a death toll of 21 students was recorded, as well as injuries and nearly a thousand arrests; “We talk about times of repression against the student population… Today we celebrate with the students of our Homeland in peace.”

Likewise, Cabello also mentioned the attacks that occurred 34 years ago, during the government of Carlos Andrés Pérez, just before February 4, within the framework of protests over the approval of the student half-ticket.

Nostalgia for previous generations

When referring to the organization and tranquility with which today’s students carry out their activities, Cabello expressed feeling “somewhat nostalgic” for his own generation.

»Today when I see them organized, marching, studying, training, one feels somewhat nostalgic because for our generation it was not like that (…). Friends and acquaintances were disappeared and murdered without explanation. Eleven thousand were murdered in this country and even three thousand bodies have not been found,” he lamented.

With these statements, the general secretary of the PSUV, Diosdado Cabello, highlighted the value of the current educational system, presenting it as a space of peace and opportunity, ensured by the Bolivarian Revolution.
