The students of the José Remón Cantera and Isabel Herrera Obaldía schools, in Paitilla, San Francisco district, return to face-to-face classes this Monday, after two years of distance education.
The return of the students in both schools was postponed, due to the lack of furniture, benches, desks and even bathrooms to be repaired, for which the personnel of the Ministry of Education (Meduca) worked last week to complete the work.
Between 1,500 and 2,000 students are expected in these campuses, according to Meduca data.
After two years of the pandemic, caused by the Covid-19 disease, Meduca still has structural issues to resolve in various educational centers, and projects underway in the country.
The Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, acknowledged that since the beginning of the school day, on March 7, maintenance problems have been corrected in several centers.
The Meduca assures that it managed to have 82% of the 3 thousand 102 operational educational centers to start the school year.
