The students of the CCH Sur who keep the campus address closed in demand for the resignation of Susana Lira Garay, director of the school, denounced the increase in political harassment
against him, the tightening of access control measures and the prohibition of trading certain products by some students.
One of the dissatisfied students said that “the management is taken for a month, until Susana Lira Garay leaves. These demonstrations are due to political harassment that has been very ugly these days. All last week they asked the young people for credentials, in addition to the testimonies of people who have been harassed by teachers or the legal profession for being activists.
“Today we went out to demonstrate, we did not touch anyone; in fact, the ones who became aggressive were the teachers, who while the hooded men asked not to be recorded, got angry and yelled at the activists. Even a teacher, when a girl yelled at her that she didn’t want to be harassed or raped, she replied: ‘And who raped you?’”
–Are the vendors students or outsiders?
–Students sell out of necessity and they have taken away their merchandise or they ask for their ID and threaten them. Going to high school without selling or working is a privilege, which is why we believe that they should have the freedom to do so. (The authorities) often hide behind the fact that there are the scholarships
and every time they see someone selling they threaten him, instead of telling him about the scholarships.
And what merchandise do you sell?
–Clothes, potatoes, key chains, earrings or little things that they make.
