This Sunday (3), the first day of the 2024 National High School Exam (Enem), the regular administration of the tests ended at 7pm. After almost six hours of evaluation, students interviewed by Brazil Agency said they liked the topic of the essay, “Challenges for valuing African heritage in Brazil”but they considered the test very tiring. Starting at 1:30 pm, in 140,000 testing rooms spread across 1,735 cities, more than 4 million students were able to take the tests this Sunday.
Student Leonardo Tenório Jacob dos Santos, 18 years old, said he found today’s test more difficult in the area of geography and history. For the candidate, the language part emphasized the interpretation of texts, which he considered very dense. “The theme of the essay was surprising, because everyone was expecting something related to climate and the environment. I thought the theme was cool, but it took me a while to find something to associate with the theme.” Leonardo hopes to do well in next Sunday’s test, as he has a better time in the exacta area. “I intend to do very well, because it’s my comfort zone.”
Camila Veriano, 23 years old, said that the time to resolve the issues was very tight. For her, the humanities part was more content-oriented than in previous years. In the student’s assessment, the language part brought ambiguous questions and a lot of text interpretation, which increased the level of difficulty of the tests. “I found the essay topic to be very good, easy, democratic and I think everyone will be able to write about it, because it gives room to write about a lot of things, there is a lot to be said about the topic”. For next Sunday, Camila hopes that the content will be similar to previous years, because Enem has been moving in this direction.
For student Enzo Zeronian, 19 years old, the test was tiring, dense, with very long texts in the language section that demanded a lot of attention from the student, especially with interpretation. However, he believes that, in the language test, the questions were easier. “I was surprised by the theme of the essay because they more or less repeated the dynamics of the year before last, which was the issue of original peoples.” For him, the humanities part also required a lot of skill in interpreting texts in history and geography and was more difficult in philosophy and sociology.
On this first day of testing, those enrolled in the exam had to answer 45 multiple-choice questions in languages (Portuguese language, literature, foreign language, arts, physical education and information and communication technologies) and another 45 questions in human sciences (history , geography, philosophy and sociology), in addition to the writing test.
Next Sunday (10), the second test of this edition will be administered with questions on natural sciences, mathematics and their technologies.
