Since the early hours of this Thursday, dozens of agents of the National Police have been guarding the outskirts of the National Palace, prior to the meeting that will be held starting at 11:00 AM, between the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and the opposition leader of Venezuela, Edmundo González Urrutia.
The members of the uniformed personnel are stationed at strategic points, on roads such as México, 30 de Marzo and others that connect to the Government House.
The meeting has been torpedoed by various sectors and civic organizations that claim the Dominican head of state exceeds his constitutional powers by receiving the left-wing leader of the South American country.

Political, social, community and peasant organizations that are members of the Dominicans with Venezuela space demanded that the Dominican government protect the headquarters of the Venezuelan embassy in the country, amid rumors that it will be used for the swearing-in of Edmundo González, as president of Venezuela.
The groups propose that it is “an obligation of the government of President Luis Abinader to safeguard the embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and not allow this ignominy that violates its sovereignty and ignores its institutionality, in addition to handing over Venezuelan territory to sectors that are behind González Urrutia, like the United States.
