Strong message from the Denis family

Beatriz Denis, daughter of former Vice President of the Republic, Oscar Denis, at a press conference, read a statement from the family on the 600th day since the kidnapping of the Liberal leader from Concepción.

The woman harshly criticized the “declaration of victory” that the security forces have been proclaiming in the fight against criminal groups such as the self-styled Army of the Paraguayan People (EPP) and listed several events that, according to her, show that violence, terror and insecurity continue to reign in the northern part of the country.

He assured that the authorities of the Internal Defense Operations Command (CODI) and the Joint Task Force (FTC) cannot speak of a “strategic victory” when the families and relatives of the hostages continue to pay the so-called “revolutionary tax” to the captors.

“We repudiate that the government is boasting of a strategic victory against the terrorist group, which has our father in its clutches and an entire people in anguish,” he said.

He also demanded more actions from the state administration to eliminate the criminal factions and emphasized that the Denis family will continue to knock on doors and seek help from international organizations to achieve the recovery of Mr. Oscar.

“Today marks 600 days without Oscar Denis, 600 days without a father, 600 days in oblivion, 600 days of pain, 600 days of defeat, let all three come back,” he exclaimed.
