Launching in Cerro Largo of the program promoted by several institutions was made in Cerro
The Familos Strong Program is jointly promoted by INAU, ASSE, the National Board of Drugs and the Ministry of Public Health with the support of the main public entities: Antel, OSE and UTE.
In a press conference that took place at the headquarters of the Departmental Directorate of Health of Cerro Largo this Wednesday, February 5, the registration was launched.
It should be remembered that strong families is a program that is designed to strengthen ties between families, with the aim of improving communication and preventing risk situations in young people, in turn promoting a more united and positive family environment.
It is oriented to families where adolescents between 10 and 14 years old who must be accompanied by an adult affective reference in the different workshops.
“This is a program of interest of the Ministry of Public Health, it is a program endorsed and animated by PAHO that is being done at the Latin American level. Strong families is aimed at those families with vulnerability characteristics. Within that program you will try to guide the family about some aspects that it covers from suicide prevention to addictions ” explained the Dr. Milton Silva.

Strengthen communication and detect risk behaviors

These workshops, which have a duration of approximately 2 and a half hours, will be held at the headquarters of the House of the University of Cerro Largo.

An innovative program

Start with a zero workshop
The 1st edition of strong families was held in 2021. “The experience was very good with palpable results. These families were monitored after having worked throughout the 7 workshops ” narrated the Nurse Marta Ruiz.
“In this edition we will include a workshop 0 that is oriented to meet with families. That is something we corrected since that 1st edition. It is for participants to become familiar with how the workshop works and what we pursue, mutual knowledge ” added.
