A 6.2 magnitude earthquake shook El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua this Sunday without causing victims or damage, reported the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and local seismology observatories.
The tremor occurred in the Pacific Ocean 50 kilometers southwest of the coastal town of La Libertad, 30 km south of San Salvador, and at a depth of 49.5 km, the USGS reported.
“There is no tsunami threat for El Salvador,” indicated the Ministry of the Environment of El Salvador on the social network X.
The tremor could also be felt in the southern part of Guatemala and in the north of Nicaragua, authorities from both neighboring countries said.

The Nicaraguan authorities called on the population to be prepared for possible new movements.
The relief agencies of the Central American countries did not report emergencies.
