A strong Earthquake Registered this Saturday at the Caribbean Sea, it was perceived in the west of Cuba, but so far no human or material damage has been reported on the island and the authorities already rule out the possibility of Tsunami.

The US Tsunamis Alert Center pointed out at first that in Cuba there could be an alteration of sea level between 1 and 3 meters above the tide. However, time later he indicated that he canceled the tidal alert.
The National Seismological Research Center (Cenais) of Cuba estimated that the earthquake reached 7.1 degrees in the open scale of Richter, with an epicenter 440 kilometers south of the island of youth and focus about 10 kilometers deep.
The earthquakes are frequent in Cuba, because they are on an area of confluence of tectonic plates, although most tremors usually register in the southeast of the country.
