President Lacalle condemns attempted coup d’état in Bolivia: “They attack democratic order”

The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, expressed himself on the social network and overthrow President Luis Alberto Arce.

“We strongly condemn the events taking place in Bolivia carried out by a sector of its Armed Forces. (Armed Forces), which threaten their democratic and constitutional order. “We express our solidarity with the legitimate government of President Luis Arce,” the president wrote.

For its part, the Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a brief statement along the same lines as that of the president.

“Uruguay strongly condemns the attempts at democratic and institutional destabilization produced in Bolivia and appeals to respect the constitutional order legitimately established in that country. Likewise, it recalls the obligation of State institutions to unrestricted respect for the commitments assumed at the inter-American level related to the defense of democracy and the validity of the rule of law,” the Foreign Ministry said in the brief statement.
