Any form of sexual abuse (physical, mental, emotional or of any kind) constitutes a public health problem, taking into account that it is associated with different conditions of comprehensive health, such as: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, suicide, non-pregnancy desired, sexually transmitted infections, HIV, abuse of alcoholic beverages, among others. Victims of sexual abuse are affected in their health and comprehensive development.
Paraguay has favorable laws to ensure the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents, established in the National Constitution, the Code for Children and Adolescents and other special laws, especially recalling the full validity of Law No. 6202/ 2018 “That adopts norms for the prevention of sexual abuse and comprehensive care for children and adolescents who are victims of sexual violence.”
