In 34 days of suspension of work in district courts and circuit courts of the Federal Judicial Branch (PJF), economic damage of 6 billion 419 million 690 thousand 84 pesos has been caused, said the Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) Lenia Batres Guadarrama.
Batres posted on his X account that the PJF has a budget of 78 thousand 327 million 278 thousand 245 pesos this year, of which the circuit collegiate courts and the district courts spend 68 thousand 917 million 261 thousand 195 pesos. The above, he declared, means that each day that the courts and tribunals of the PJF have suspended their work They have cost us 188 million 814 thousand 414 pesos. Therefore, the 34-day strike has caused damage to the citizens for 6 thousand 419 million 690 thousand 84 pesos for the expense of a service that has not been provided.
.
He noted that in addition to the economic damage caused by the work stoppage, the PJF has stopped guaranteeing access to justice. 440 thousand pending amparo trials were abandoned. While in August 2023, 113 thousand 246 cases were resolved in courts and tribunals, in August of this year only 14 thousand 81 cases were resolved, and the September cutoff is yet to be seen.
.
In addition to the economic damage and the neglect of obligations in the administration of justice, he added that in recent months there have been acts of violence that have caused material damage and attacks against those who We have expressed ourselves
in favor of the reform: legislators, ministers and the President of the Republic.
Responsibilities
For this reason, he stated that the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) and the Federal Judicial Council (CJF) must assume their responsibility, as the head of the Judicial Branch of the Federation, to guarantee the immediate resumption of jurisdictional activities; suspend the salaries of those who insist on the illegal work stoppage, and sanction those who have engaged in violent actions and even the commission of crimes during the protests.
The repeated inaction of the SCJN and the CJF can only reveal a deliberate strategy to promote violence. The popular will has already been expressed at the polls and in the Congress of the Union with the approval of the judicial reform. It is up to the powers of the State to enforce it and safeguard the constitutional order. Our people have shown that they can transform their political regime in a peaceful and democratic manner. Those of us who lead the institutions of the Mexican State have the challenge of living up to the expectations of our people.
added Minister Batres Guadarrama in her statement.
