Strikes continue in Brazil to support Bolsonaro, although they are already losing strength

The strikers, mostly members of the truck drivers’ union, have been blocking highways in Brazil for three days. From 271 that they had hindered in 23 states, they dropped to 150 in 15 states

This Wednesday, November 2, the protests continue, led by the truckers’ union that sympathizes with the outgoing president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, to demand that the country’s military lead a “military intervention” against the upcoming government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who won the ballot in the elections held on Sunday, October 30, by a narrow margin.

The Brazilian Federal Police received the order from the Supreme Court on tuesday november 1 to clear the barricades in at least 271 highway points in 23 states across the country, which the truckers put out in rejection of the electoral results and sing “fraud.”

Media from that country indicated that the blockade on the highways fell to 150 this Tuesday, November 2, in 15 states, information published after receiving a balance from the Federal Highway Police (PRF). Since Monday, October 31, 631 demonstrations have been broken up.

The Minister of Justice, Anderson Torres, commented this Wednesday morning on the actions taken on federal highways. Through Twitter, he quoted President Bolsonaro and did not ask for an end to the protests. Like the president, Torres limited himself to asking “that the demonstrations do not hinder everyone’s right to come and go,” he stressed. Or Balloon.

On the other hand, despite the blockade on the roads, the Brazilian Association of Supermarkets reported that in establishments throughout the country there is a normal movement and there is no shortage of products, at least in Sao Paulo.

In the south of the country there is a crisis in the supply of gasoline.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro broke the silence on tuesday november 1 and failed to comment on the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who surpassed him in the second round by a margin of barely hundreds of thousands of votes. The president condemned the blockades of truck drivers, comparing them to “methods of the left.”

In a statement of just under three minutes from the Alvorada Palace, in the city of Brasilia, Bolsonaro thanked the more than 50 million Brazilians who voted for him, and also said that any peaceful demonstration would be welcome “but our methods are not they can be from the left, which have always harmed the population ».
