“The formula used to estimate the economic loss is based on the percentage of users of these means of transportation, the Economically Active Employed Population (PEAO) and the average daily income of workers,” the union stated.
In that sense, it revealed that 52.4% of workers in Metropolitan Lima and Callao use these vehicles to get to their jobs. In that sense, he pointed out that if the stoppage affected only half a working day, the losses would reach S/115 million.
The union also specified that if only the northern area of the capital is taken into account, the cost would amount to S/76.8 million. “It is worth noting that the estimated losses are limited by the fact of not working as a result of the lack of public transportation,” he added.
Likewise, the AAP emphasized the importance of addressing these conflicts effectively, since “the economic repercussions not only affect workers, but also the local and national economy.”
For this reason, he pointed out that this analysis highlights the need to find viable solutions to avoid future stoppages that further harm the population.
