During a press conference held this Friday, authorities of the capital municipality, headed by Mayor Óscar Rodríguez, announced a series of measures with the aim of avoiding accidents in Municipal Market No. 4.
One of the first actions will be to demarcate the perimeter corresponding to the premises with yellow stripes, in order to establish the real space assigned to each permit holder and also to give way to emergency vehicles such as fire trucks.
The director of Zonal Markets, Juan Villalba, stated that, in the event that the merchants exceed the space delimited through the stripes, they will be sanctioned in accordance with the current ordinance for the effect due to irregular occupation.
Likewise, he announced that this Monday, starting at 08:30 a.m., an intervention will be carried out in conjunction with municipal officials and ANDE technicians at the intersection of Avda. Rodríguez de Francia and Battilana Street, in order to verify the electrical connections. both of the permit holders who occupy public roads and private premises.
Villalva announced that those permit holders who are discovered using direct and clandestine energy will have the most serious sanction, which is disaffection and eviction. Similarly, the same measure is provided for those who have their own meter and “lend” energy to those who do not through extension cords or irregular connections.
The idea is that each post has its own meter so that ANDE has effective control over the amount of energy used and that direct cuts are made if necessary, said the director of Market 4.
“These stockings are necessary, fair and mandatory because a hard period is coming during the summer and it will be a constant,” he said, while anticipating that permanent verifications will be carried out in the place.
This first round of controls will last between three to four weeks, then another visit is planned in November and then another in January, coinciding with the high temperature season.
