The “left foot” stolen from the sculpture in honor of Gabriel García Márquez that rests in the Plaza de Bolívar in the municipality of Aracataca, Magdalena, was recovered.
The Police managed to find the piece in less than 24 hours due to the indignation that this event produced not only locally but also nationally, given the importance of what it represents: The figure of the only Nobel Prize in Literature that Colombia has.

The authorities reported that after learning of the theft of the foot carried out in the early hours of Saturday, they visited several junkyards and merchants in the town to find the material that contains materials such as carbon resin, bronze and copper parts.
Finally, after an intense search, the object was found on the road to Cauca in a sector known as ‘The Pioneer’.
The authorities indicated that they have identified the vandal and that he is wanted in the town to answer for this fact.
This person would have stolen the piece by cutting it with a hacksaw.
