Minister Marco Aurélio Buzzi, of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), presented, this Thursday (5), a medical certificate and will be away from the next court sessions for health reasons.
The dismissal takes place one day after the STJ open a investigation to investigate the accusation of sexual harassment which would have been committed by the minister against an 18-year-old girl. He denies the accusation.
The young woman, who is the daughter of a couple of friends of the minister, accuses Buzzi of trying to grab her while swimming in the sea. The episode would have occurred last month, when the minister, the young woman and her parents were on vacation in Balneário Camboriú, on the coast of Santa Catarina.
The accusation was formalized through a police report. The case is also being processed by the National Council of Justice (CNJ), which is investigating the administrative consequences of the complaint. The criminal part is led by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Nunes Marques. As a minister of the STJ, Buzzi has a privileged forum in the Supreme Court.

Yesterday (4), in a statement released to the press, the minister said he was surprised by the disclosure of the complaint. “Minister Marco Buzzi informs that he was surprised by the content of the insinuations released by a websitewhich do not correspond to the facts. In this sense, he repudiates any and all conclusions that he committed an improper act”, he stated.
Lawyer Daniel Bialski, representing the young woman, said he expects rigor in the investigation of the case.
“As a lawyer for the victim and his family, we inform you that at this moment the most important thing is to protect them, given the very serious act committed. We await rigor in the investigations and the respective outcome before the competent bodies”, he declared.
