The Federal Supreme Court (STF) marked for August 15 the resumption of virtual trial that could condemn federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) for the second time at the Court. The parliamentary has already been convicted 10 years in prison for the invasion of the electronic system of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), which took place in 2023.
The plenary will again judge the case in which Zambelli was denounced by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) for illegal firearm crimes and illegal embarrassment with firearm use.
The parliamentarian is defendant in the STF for the episode in which she drew a firearm and chased journalist Luan Araújo on the eve of the second round of the 2022 elections. The persecution began after Zambelli and Luan exchanged provocations during a political act in the neighborhood of Jardins, in Sao Paulo.
To date, the Supreme Court has a majority of 6 votes to 0 to condemn the parliamentarian to 5 years and 3 months in prison in a semi -open regime. The ministers who voted for the conviction were also manifested by the loss of mandate due to the criminal conviction.
Since March this year, The trial was suspended by a request for a view made by Minister Nunes Marqueswhich returned the process for deliberation this Friday (1st).
Ministers who have already voted followed the rapporteur’s understanding, Gilmar Mendes, for whom the armed reaction in the face of offenses find no protection in the Democratic Rule of Law.
“By entering the commercial establishment with the gun in a fist pointed to Luan, repeatedly determining that it lay on the floor, the defendant clearly forced him to do an act contrary to his will, using the firearm to subdue him, by serious threat, restricting his freedom momentarily,” said Mendes.
In addition to the rapporteur, Ministers Luís Roberto Barroso, Alexandre de Moraes, Carmen Lúcia, Flávio Dino and Cristiano Zanin voted for the conviction.

The deputy was arrested last Tuesday (29), in Rome, where it tried to escape the fulfillment of an arrest warrant issued by Minister Alexandre de Moraes for the conviction in the case of the CNJ.
