The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes determined, this evening (24), that Roberto Jefferson will be under house arrest. The politician had been imprisoned in Rio de Janeiro since August.
The defense of Jefferson, who held the presidency of the PTB, alleged health problems and risk of death. The former deputy had a respiratory infection similar to covid-19 last week. This was not the first time that the politician had health complications and was temporarily taken for examinations outside the prison.
In the order that determines the transition from prison to home regime, Alexandre de Moraes cited excerpts from the Criminal Procedure Code, which provides for the benefit for people “extremely weakened due to serious illness.”
Roberto Jefferson, however, must wear an electronic anklet and cannot receive personal visits, only medical follow-up.
