The forecast was approved during administrative session and will be sent to the Ministry of Planning and Budget to compose the Budget Proposal of the Union to 2026.

The STF’s proposal for the year has been increased by this year’s budgetwhich was R $ 953 million.

In the report in which he voted in favor of budget approval, The president of the Supreme Court, Minister Luís Roberto Barroso, stressed that the court was forced, for “external factors”, to increase the spending safely.

In 2020, the expense of the protection of the facilities and the safety of the ministers was $ 40 million. Next year, the proposed value is R $ 72 million.

“This is an expense that has external causes to the Court. It comes from increasing hostilities to the Supreme Court, which are public and notorious. The risk to security has increased the need to invest in infrastructure, technology and equipment and staff increase (servers and outsourced), with severe impact on the budget, justified Barroso.

In the report, The minister also stated that court expenses are within the fiscal limits.

“As mentioned in the report, to the amount of primary expenses with revenues of the Treasury (mandatory and discretionary), the court of discretionary expenses with proper revenues of the Court was added,” added the minister.
