The Conservative Action Political Conference (CPAC), which brings together right-wing politicians from various parts of the world, began this Friday amid protests in Mexico City.
When inaugurating the event, the actor Eduardo Verástegui, one of the promoters of the meeting, accused President Andrés Manuel López Obrador of “trying to concentrate power in his person.”
“They call themselves defenders of the people, but they consistently work against the interests of the people,” he said.
“Here at CPAC we want to contribute to building a conservative movement throughout the hemisphere, well coordinated and organized, and in continuous growth, which allows us to support conservative leaders in the region and develop new, well-prepared and trained leaders,” he added.
Today, here in CDMX, you and I are making history by opening the first CPAC in a Spanish-speaking country. We have waited for a long time, for many years, but we can finally say that CPAC has arrived in Hispanic America. –@EVerastegui pic.twitter.com/Flm9VXfq5H

While Verástegui gave his speech inside the Westin Santa Fe Hotel, in the Mexican capital, dozens of people protested in the vicinity of the venue.
“Neither hatred, nor racism, nor fascism are welcome in Mexico,” the protesters said.
speeches of the right
The first hours of the conservative meeting were full of speeches against the left in Latin America.
The former president of Poland, Lech Walesa, said that “today we have to redefine what is the left and what is the right, I see that the right is very leftist and the left is very rightist.”
“What should be the economic system for that new world? The communist system seems attractive, but it is not feasible. We reject it as an answer to our question. Then capitalism worked effectively while we had separate states, with rivalry. Yesterday’s capitalism caused many helpless people. The new capitalism must have a free market, of course, but we must redefine the other components of capitalism as a system. There is so much work in the world that it is enough for everyone,” said the former Polish president.
“How can we face demagogy, populism, the lies we hear from politicians? Until the end of the 20th century, each people had God, albeit in a hidden way, in their conscience. But we have strayed too far from this fear of God,” he expounded.
José Antonio Kast Rist, a former presidential candidate in Chile, also launched himself against the left in Latin America. “Sooner rather than later, we will free Latin America from the socialist yoke. Let us defend our ideas without fear and without complexes. Because it is they, that force, that will make it possible to build a Latin America in peace and freedom”, he said.
“We have the deadliest weapon of mass destruction against the progressive left: common sense. Do you know of any communist country that has been successful, and that has benefited its people with prosperity? ”, He abounded during the conservative summit.
“Latin America is in danger! In our continent, the left and the enemies of freedom have reached the governments and carry out a progressive agenda that seeks to destroy the foundations of our coexistence and threaten our peace and freedom.”

The American María Herrera spoke out for safe migrations. “It is essential to establish efficient border management policies and tools so that we can prevent irregular immigration, dismantle organized crime networks and protect the rights of immigrants,” she said.
Another who participated was the former United States ambassador to Mexico, Christopher Landau, who pointed out that democracy “dies when free peoples surrender their sovereignty to bureaucrats with no obligation to render accounts to anyone.”
The Conservative Action Political Conference takes place this Friday, November 18, and Saturday, November 19, in the Mexican capital.
