Santo Dosmingo.- The president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader deeply regretted the death of the student Stephora Anne-Mircie Joseph, qualifying the event as “very painful and very sad”and ensuring that the tragedy has shaken the entire country.
During The Weekly with the Pressthe president expressed his total confidence in the actions of the Public Ministry and stated that they have already been adopted measurements inside of the investigative process.
Abinader also reported that the Ministry of Education initiated actions to prevent a similar event from occurring again, reinforcing control mechanisms within the educational system.
The case detains four members of the Leonardo Da Vinci Institute, accused of manslaughter for the death of the 11-year-old girl, which occurred on the 14th November in a recreational complex pool Hacienda Los Caballos, in Guraboduring a school excursion.
The prisoners are Yris del Carmen Reyes Adames, administrative director; Gisela Gonzalezgeneral coordinator and advisor; Francisca Josefina Tavárez Vélezcounselor; and Vilma Altagracia Vargas Morelsecondary level coordinator.
According to the research, Stephora was taken to the complex with a group of students when she lost her life in one of the pools.s, where according to the authorities, basic security measures were not met.
