The stepfather received a sentence of 15 years in prison, while his neighbor 10. The attacks occurred from January to September 2021 in a house located in Ciudad del Este.
Prosecutor Vivian Coronel obtained the sentence for both the abusive stepfather and the neighbor. The latter led other children in the neighborhood to abuse the victim, a 4-year-old girl.
According to the background, the abuses occurred repeatedly between January and September 2021, in a building located in the area of the capital of Alto Paraná.
When the sexual assaults were discovered, the mother of the minor filed the complaint and the Specialized Unit in punishable acts against children and adolescents. Then the investigation began that led to the arrest of those responsible and the prosecution of both.
During the debate, the prosecutor demonstrated the existence of the punishable act, as well as the authorship of the accused. Once again, the intervention of the prosecutor’s psychologist, Mirna Vallejos, was decisive in proving the abuses.
The Sentencing Court, presided over by Judge Milciades Ovelar and made up of his peers Emilia Santos and Flavia Lorena Recalde, considered that the just applicable sanction is the sentence of 15 years in prison for the stepfather and 10 years for the neighbor, who He was accused of inducing children to perform sexual acts on the victim. The latter was convicted as the mediate author of the events.
Although the Prosecutor’s Office requested a sentence of 22 years for the stepfather and 15 years for the other perpetrator, the Court considered that the just sentence was 15 and 10 years, respectively, as a sentence.
This was the first conviction, whose investigation of the case began and concluded the Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in punishable acts against children and adolescents of Ciudad del Este, in charge of the prosecutor Vivian Coronel.
