State security threatens political prisoner Luis Robles Elizástigui

Luis Robles y su madre Yindra Elizástigui

HAVANA, Cuba – Cuban State Security threatened the political prisoner Luis Robles Elizástigui, due to the public complaints that his mother makes on social networks for his freedom.

Yindra Elizástigui Jardines, mother of the prisoner, told CubaNet that a political police agent showed up at the “La Lima” correctional work camp, in the Guanabacoa municipality, where her son is being held. The repressor warned the young man that if she did not keep her mouth shut, there would be consequences for him.

“I am outraged by the attitude of this agent for bothering a person who is trying to spend the remaining time of this unjust imprisonment in peace; he goes there to destabilize him by threatening him with his mother,” said Elizástigui Jardines.

“I have a message for State Security: None of my children, because that’s what they told Luis, that he was the one who insisted that I report, none of them send me to report, I do it because it is the weapon I have to fight against the injustices that have been committed against them , mainly with Luis, who has already suffered enough in four years of unjust imprisonment,” he added.

The mother of the prisoner of conscience assured that, despite the threats, she will continue to denounce without fear for the freedom of her two sons: Luis Robles and Lester Fernández, who is currently in the Valle Grande prison accused of an alleged crime of “ attack” on a police officer.

“I am not going to remain silent and as long as I have to report I will do so. If I am the one who is bothered by my complaints, I am here, I exchange my freedom for that of my children. As long as God allows me to speak I will continue to denounce and fighting for freedom of them,” he stated.

Likewise, the mother of Luis Robles, the young man who demonstrated with a banner on San Rafael Boulevard on December 4, 2021, held State Security responsible for “anything that is going to happen to him,” even if he They invent a common crime to sentence him for more years.

In mid-July, Yindra was also threatened by an officer of the political policewho demanded that he stop fighting for Luis’s freedom or he would face the consequences.

The young man from Guantanamo was sentenced to five years in prison for the alleged crimes of “enemy propaganda” and “disobedience.” Although he is entitled to the benefit of parole, this remains denied.
