State security harasses and threatens Cuban activist Adelth Bonne

During the interrogation he was “warned” and directly threatened due to his position and his publications on social networks about what recently happened in Venezuela.

MIAMI.- The Cuban activist and communicator Adelth Bonne Gamboaa former Cubanet collaborator, publicly denounced a new episode of harassment and pressure by the Cuban State Security, in a context of growing repression against critical voices within the island.

As reported on his Facebook account, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, a State Security agent showed up at his home to give him a summons ordering him to appear the next day, Monday, January 12, at 10:00 in the morning at the Diez de Octubre Police Unit, in Havana, known as Aguilera. Bonne explained that he decided not to make the subpoena public at the time so as not to attract unnecessary attention or worry his mother, although several people close to him were aware of the situation.

The activist stated that during the interrogation he was “warned” and directly threatened due to his position and his publications on social networks about what recently happened in Venezuela. According to their testimony, the officers even mentioned the possible application of Article 370, used repeatedly to criminalize freedom of expression. The meeting, which lasted approximately an hour, was marked – in his words – by a tone of constant intimidation.

Bonne noted that this constitutes the third interrogation to which he has been subjected in less than a month. Since, due to pressure, he decided to resign last December from his collaboration with the independent media Cubanet, after almost two years of work, he assures that he has not left his house and that he lives in a kind of self-imposed house arrest for fear of greater reprisals. In his publication he stressed that he did not sign any document during the summons and reiterated that he will not give up expressing his ideas or publicly expressing his friendships and personal ties.

In his message, the communicator denounced that the authorities insisted that he leave the country, but demanded that he do so in silence. “And no,” he wrote, while launching a call for help and asking for help to leave Cuba. Although the agents tried to appear calm and firm, Bonne said he perceived nervousness in their attitude, which he interpreted as a sign of the regime’s fear of the voices that refuse to be silenced.

The case of Adelth Bonne joins a long list of Cuban activists, independent journalists and opponents who face surveillance, arbitrary subpoenas and threats as a method of control and silencing, in a country where repression continues to be one of the main tools of power to stifle dissent.
