The team of lawyers representing the State requested this Monday compensation of 12,707. 8 million pesos for the damages suffered by the corruption that, according to the Public Ministry, took place in the National Land Traffic Institute (Intrant) during the management of Hugo Beras (2022-2023).
Beras heads together with the technology entrepreneur Jochi Gomez the group of ten accused of also defrauding the State, causing sabotage in the traffic light network and terrorism.
According to the prosecuting body, the acts of sabotage and terrorism against the traffic lights in August 2024 had their origin in the suspension of the irregular contract with the company. Transcore Latamowned by Gómez.
The agreement of Intrant with Transcore Latamfor more than 1,300 million pesos, was made for the modernization of traffic lights and, when suspended by the General Directorate of Public Contracting, Gómez would have caused the blackout, on several occasions, in these devices in the National District.
The State Attorney Jose Ortiz is the one who represents in the case, called Operation Chameleonto the Public Asset Recovery Team and was the one who filed the civil complaint against the accused.
Other defendants
The group of accused includes, in addition to Beras and Gómez, Manuel Eduardo Morageneral manager of Pago RD Exchange; Mariano Gustini, Henry Darío Féliz Casso, Pedro Vinicio Padovani Báez, former head of the Traffic Control Center of the Intrantand Samuel Gregorio Baquero Sepúlveda, former Director of Technology.
It is also pointed out to Frank Diaz Wardenformer Dispatch Coordinator and representative of Beras before the Purchasing Committee of the Intrant; Juan Francisco Alvarez Carbuccia, administrative and financial director, and Carlos José Peguero Vargas.
There are also seven companies charged, including Transcore LatamAurix SAS, PaymentRD Xchange and Dekolor.
Hearing for February
The judge of the Sixth Investigative Court, Yanibet Rivasgranted another period of 29 days to the defense of the accused who requested it this Monday so that they can hear the complaint in civil constitution of the Public Asset Recovery Team.
In that sense, Rivas established for the February 9, at 9:00 in the morning, the next hearing of the preliminary trial of the alleged Operation Chameleon plot.
