After 1 in the afternoon of this Saturday, November 6, the citizen consultation that is carried out virtually in the La Araucanía Region exceeded 100,000 voters and currently the participation counter reaches 109,586, equivalent to 12.4 % of the 885,227 authorized to vote.
The consultation is organized by the regional governor, Luciano Rivas, and the Association of Municipalities of La Araucanía, AMRA, which groups the 32 communes of the region. The number of participants can be tracked minute by minute in the website.
There are almost 900 thousand residents who are authorized to vote on this occasion and the organizers estimated about 90 thousand participants, which is equivalent to 10% of the list.
So far the number of people participating in the consultation exceeds the votes that elected Governor Rivas to the position (70,804). But in any case the barrier of 130,000 who went to the polls to elect the regional governor in the second round has not been surpassed.
At the moment the communes where the largest number of votes are concentrated are Temuco (39,781), Angol (7,286), Victoria (6,687), Padre Las Casas (5,598), Lautaro (4,208), Nueva Imperial (4,087), Villarrica ( 4,114) and Collipulli (3,602).
From the regional government they have called to vote for the option “Yes”, that is, to support the idea of extending the State of Emergency in the region
The process is non-binding, however, it is an input to contribute to the discussion on the measure. This, after President Sebastián Piñera announced that he will send a request to Congress to extend the State of Emergency that now prevails in the Southern Macrozone for another 15 days.
