State of emergency extended in Amazonas, Cajamarca, Loreto and San Martín for another 60 days

The Executive Power extended the state of emergency in various districts of Amazonas, Cajamarca, Loreto and San Martín for another 60 days, after the magnitude 7.5 earthquake that affected these regions on November 28, 2021.

Through , this measure was extended from January 29, 2022, in order to continue with the execution of necessary emergency measures and actions, of response and corresponding rehabilitation.

The regional governments of Amazonas, Cajamarca, Loreto and San Martin, and the local governments included will have the technical coordination and monitoring of the National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci) and the participation of the Ministries of Health; Education; Agricultural Development and Irrigation; Housing, Construction and Sanitation; inland; defense; of Energy and Mines, of the Environment; Women and Vulnerable Populations; and other public and private institutions involved.

“These actions must have a direct causal link between the interventions and the event, and may be modified according to the needs and security elements that arise during their execution, supported by the technical studies of the competent entities”says the decree.

The implementation of the planned actions will be financed from the institutional budget of the specifications involved, in accordance with current regulations.

The earthquake of magnitude 7.5 occurred in Amazonas on Sunday, November 28, 2021 It left a tragic balance of one deceased, 17 injured, 2,682 victims and 4,426 affected.

According to the updated document, 969 affected homes were reported, 466 uninhabitable and 131 destroyed. There were damages in 41 health establishments and one was destroyed.
