“We are initiating the special maintenance plan for the Agua China creek in the Macarao parish, together with institutions from the Mayor’s Office of Caracas, the Government of Caracas and other entities, to prevent and provide security to the people before the arrival of the rains.” In this way, the Mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, made it known from Macarao, in Caracas.
Meléndez pointed out that the Mayor’s Office of Caracas has a maintenance plan that includes, in addition to streams, also gullies, canals and everything that we find in those courses that can hinder the free flow of water currents.

He indicated that these maintenance days are carried out in the 22 parishes of the city of Caracas, together with the government of the Capital District, the Mayor’s Office of Caracas, the company that provides urban sanitation and solid waste collection, Supra-Caracas, the Municipal Institute of Risk Management and Disaster Administration (Ingra), the Secretariat of Citizen Security, among other institutions.

“We have 125 streams, 166 streams, in which the different crews are carrying out maintenance work together with the People’s Power to do the corresponding work,” said the mayor.
Finally, Meléndez warned that before the premature arrival of the rains, “we have to be careful not to throw garbage into the streams, avoid obstructing the gullies, avoid cutting the land in these places, since the solid material (stones, earth) deposits in the channels and obstructs them. For this reason, I call on the inhabitants of these sectors to become aware of how dangerous it is to throw waste into the riverbeds.
