Start of the week with low temperatures and frosts

For tomorrow the low temperatures with clear skies would continue, where the minimums would be between 3 and 6°C in both regions and the occurrence of frosts in some parts of the country, especially in the east of the Oriental region, is not ruled out.

According to the Meteorology Directorate, on Tuesday the cold to cool environment would continue in the south and east of the Eastern region, while for the rest of the country it is expected to be cold in the early hours, then warm in the afternoon. The winds would also rotate to the northeast sector with moderate intensity. Until the middle of the week the probability of rain is very low.

Professionals from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the UNA remind, according to the IP Agency, to take extreme care and avoid prolonged exposure to low temperatures, before the first cold wave of the year.

Low temperatures favor the appearance of respiratory conditions, with children and older adults being the most vulnerable to this type of condition. Prolonged exposure to cold and not having adequate warm clothing could cause hypothermia, which occurs when body temperature is below 35°C.

As for people who stay outdoors for their work, it is recommended that they drink hot infusions, coffee, cooked or mate, in order to maintain body heat. Also use warm clothes to protect the body. Alcohol consumption can give a false sensation of heat, which increases the risk of being exposed to the elements and suffering from hypothermia or respiratory complications.
