American satellite internet company Starlink has announced that it will comply with the order to block the social network X in Brazil, as determined by the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF). Starlink also belongs to Elon Musk, owner of the former Twitter who has been fighting a dispute with the Brazilian justice system.
On Sunday (1), the company had said it would not comply with the blocking order. But on Tuesday (3), it decided to go back on its decision, according to a public statement. In the report, the company said the order will be complied with regardless of Starlink’s illegal treatment of the freezing of its assets.
The company also announced that it has initiated legal proceedings in the United States Supreme Court, explaining the alleged illegality of the order given by the Supreme Court, which froze the company’s finances and prevented it from carrying out financial transactions.
In Brazil, Starlink was also affected by the decisions of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, as it is part of the same business group that controls the social network X. As X has no commercial representation in Brazil, Moraes blocked Starlink’s accounts to ensure payment of fines imposed for non-compliance with previous decisions.
