STAPP: Petroperú Management specified that there is no provision to send pre-dismissal letters

Everything suggests that the emergency decree to restructure Petroperu (DU Nº 010-2025) and everything that Premier Ernesto Álvarez and the Minister of Economy, Denisse Miralles, have stated so far to reverse the company’s situation will fall on deaf ears.

The Board of Directors of the Petroperú Administrative Workers Union (STAPP) informed its members that they had held a working meeting with the general management of the oil company, in which they reported having addressed “issues of relevance to labor stability and the current situation of the company.”

Thus, they detailed to their associates that the general management of Petroperú, led by Rita López, was emphatic in specifying that: “there is no provision, nor has any decision been made, regarding sending pre-dismissal letters to personnel.”

“Likewise, (the general management of Petroperú) indicated that this issue has not been the subject of treatment to date,” they noted.

The above contradicts the emergency decree itself that provides for the application of the most pertinent modality for the termination of the corresponding labor relations within the state company, since it operates at a loss. The law even provides for a capital contribution of S/240 million to carry out said personnel restructuring.

The union also explained that it was informed that alternatives such as the relocation of personnel, among other actions, are being evaluated, which must be carried out within the margin of the law, with technical criteria and without violating labor rights.

“The general management reported that, precisely to ensure that the actions linked to compliance with the DU are carried out in strict accordance with the rules and with guarantees for the staff, a law firm of recognized prestige has been hired, with the objective of having a specialized legal opinion that guides the definition of the measures to be adopted,” they indicated.

Financial situation and questions

Another aspect reported by the union to its members is the confirmation by general management of having held meetings with various suppliers and financial institutions aimed at obtaining lines of credit.

They specified that the union demanded to carry out the pertinent investigations and adopt the measures that are applicable with respect to the people who are determined to be responsible for the current situation that Petroperú is going through.

Likewise, they spoke to the general management about what they called “serious questions of unconstitutionality” raised in the recently issued emergency decree.”

The union indicated that it will continue to promote the corresponding actions aimed at its repeal, safeguarding the constitutional framework, the institutions of Petroperú and the rights of workers.
